Abstract |
In this paper we have presented a brief account of Roman machines by looking at the historical development of a technical culture and its practice. A few examples of designer personalities and machine designs are discussed with the aim to illustrate the specific professional approach that made the Roman Engineering very successful from practical point of view, although only few theoretical works were produced.
