Romanian Professor
Professor Nicolae Negut was born on September 15, 1941 in the village Dragoesti, Valcea. He attended primary school in his native village, between 1948-1955. Later, in 1959, he graduated High School no. 1 in Rm.Valcea. Between 1959 and 1961 he attended the Technical Design School, which belonged to the High School “Electromotor” Timisoara.
In 1961 he was admitted at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty Timisoara, specialty Railway Rolling Stock. He graduated in 1966 obtaining the title of engineer.
After graduating he was hired as assistant in the Rolling Stock Department, and afterward in the Department Strength of Materials, going through all teaching positions from assistant to professor. In 1988 Nicolae Negut obtained the scientific title of Ph.D, with the thesis: "Optimization of start for locomotives with hydraulic transmission".
Between 1992 and 2000 he was elected as Vice dean and from 2000 to 2008 as Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Timisoara.
In addition to educational activities he was president of the Sports Association "Politehnica" Timisoara for 25 years. In 2011 he retired.
