Abstract Dieses Konstruktionshandbuch war einer der ersten Versuche der Kombination von systematischer Beschreibung mit mathematischer Berechnung und auf diese Weise grundlegend für das 19. Jh. Hachette wandte erstmals die Ideen von Monge auf Bewegungsmechanismen an, konzipierte eine kinematische Maschinenlehre und versuchte eine Klassifikation elementarer Mechanismen.
